Why Pearl Shells?
I decided to use pearl shells because they are the same quality as cultured pearls, yet much more affordable.
Pearl shells are man-made from the shell of an oyster. The raw material for the base of the pearl is the sea shell, which is coated and polished to the final shape of the pearl. In order to produce a good quality pearl, a key ingredient is a "mother of pearl bead". This element adds weight, value, and durability to the pearl, unlike the ones made out of glass. In fact, the materials used to make pearl shells are the same materials from which cultured pearls are made.
...More functional than cultured pearls
Modern manufacturing technology of the pearl shells assures their durability. The surface of the pearl shells are covered with protective material which ensures that their color and shine will not fade in time. This makes them more durable than other kinds of pearls, which are very sensitive to perfumes and human perspiration, stain easily, and lose their brightness and shine if not handled carefully. The pearl shells, however, will always keep their shine and color and will not fade.
